ALICE IN CRYPTOLAND BITCOIN NFT & OTHER CURIOSITIES HC
(W) Daniel Villa Monteiro (A) Nicolas Balas
Dive with Alice into the mysterious and controversial world of cryptocurrencies.
We are on the eve of Covid confinement when a young woman receives an inheritance from her grandmother and wonders what to do with this money that her banker wants to invest for her. By chance, she discovers that parallel currencies open the door to another world. Misunderstood by her family and friends, she nevertheless threw herself into it wholeheartedly. Her online comics on her experience make her quite the influencer, explaining crypto's intricacies in simple terms but with eyes wide open as to its dangers. We even travel with her to El Salvador, the first country to accept Bitcoin as a national currency, and its cryptocurrency farms, to understand the power and perils of Bitcoin, NFTs, blockchains and other curiosities. ALGORITHMIC REALITY GN (O/A)
(W) Damian Bradfield (A) David Sanchez
Your phone reminds you all day long that you were interested in buying those shoes. Your device knows the places where you go, the books you like and your friends' faces. The world's most valuable resource is no longer oil, but data. The more they know about you, the better you can be targeted, and then, monetized. The British businessman Damian Bradfield, co-founder of WeTransfer, and the Spanish comics author David Sánchez build an ironic dystopic world, disturbingly similar to ours, to explore the addictive effects of social media, the stealthy invasion of privacy and the dangers of data misuse. With a wry acidic sense of humor, they blur the boundaries between the online and offline worlds and spin disturbingly recognizable tales about our overconnected society. (STL244070)

BRITISH INVASION HC (O/A)
(W/A) Hervé Bourhis
A 'little square book' focused on English pop culture since 1962 when the country began its revolution! Because it was in 1962, 60 years ago, that the 'ole Albion, that of the monarchy, tea and crumpets and bowler hats took a resolutely modern turn, thanks to a sexy secret agent, a band from Liverpool, and a mini (skirt and car). From the eccentric to the ultra-conservative, from James Bond to AstraZeneca, from Bowie to Banksy, including After Eight and the Teletubbies, year after year, all things Brit are covered! (STL338270)
HC, 9x9, 272pgs, FC SRP: $34.99

INCREDIBLE STORY OF COOKING HC (O/A)
(W) Benoist Simmat (A) Stephane Douay
This graphic novel tells the story of humanity through the evolution of cuisine. As soon as humans mastered fire, they invented cooking. Did you know that Sapiens invented steam cooking and freezing? That the Mesopotamians created soups, bread, beer, ovens? That gastronomy and tableware have been symbols of political power? These great discoveries changed the world, but also the way we eat. From America, the conquistadors brought spices, peppers, potatoes... Portuguese missionaries brought the frying technique to distant samurai who made the first tempuras. These are the beginnings of globalization. In the 19th century with the industrial revolution, 'capitalist' cuisine emerged: it was the beginning of the food industry. In the 21st century, the organic and buy local movements are shown as a reaction against the harmful effects of this culinary and gastronomic standardization. To finish in style, find twenty-two recipes for dishes mentioned throughout our story that you can make at home! (STL328476)

PLUTOCRACY GN (O/A)
(W/A) Abraham Martinez
2051. The world's largest company, The Company, has seized power on a planetary scale and runs the world as if it were a business. In a plutocracy, the richer one is, the more powerful one is. The elections have been replaced by general shareholders' meetings where the votes are linked to the number of shares owned by citizens. Government is made up of those who own the most shares and it is the laws of the market that govern everything, creating a strange political system. In this context, an anonymous citizen becomes compelled to uncover how the world came to this situation, without paying any attention to the official version. He seeks to discover the true history of The Company and to try to understand what are the various interests that are trying to influence his investigation. (STL166870) (SEP201343)

TERMINAL EXPOSURE HC
(W/A) Michael McMillan
Michael McMillan has said he's 'not really a cartoonist,' but the evidence suggests otherwise. Born and raised in California, he studied architecture and design before a visit in 1969 to an exhibition of Chicago's Hairy Who and encounters with the bourgeoning San Francisco underground comix scene convinced McMillan to make his own comics. He plunged in, drawing for legendary publications like Weirdo, Young Lust, Lemme Out Here, Arcade, and eventually his own one-issue wonder, Terminal. Over the following decades, McMillian kept playing with the form of comics. He reimagined the kind of stories single-panel, two-panel, and many-panel strips could tell, blending favorite genres from his childhood (horror, swords and sandals, science fiction) with more mature themes (autobiography, dating, sex) into new and striking forms. McMillan's comics are collected here for the first time, alongside a selection of his electrifying sculptures, eye-popping paintings, and stunning pages from the journals he kept during his years rock climbing in California's Sierra Nevada.
