...5 days before we started and held our first event there, The Wind Whistle Closed its doors while new management was looked for. Later that day we visited a couple of local venues, which were tied up with Skittle and Dart league tournaments, we were pointed towards the Conservative Club by the manager of the Happy Return Public House, Chard. We visited the Club and ten minutes later, it was arranged, the inaugural folk club meeting would be held on Thursday 14th November 2024 in The Conservative Club, 6 High Street, Chard, Somerset. TA20 1QB. We went home happy.

The first event, on the 14th November, was well supported with a mixture of singers and musicians and at about the half way mark, I took a show of hands to see who would like the group to meet twice a month instead of once a month and it was decided that the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month would be a great time to meet.

The rest, as they say is history.
